Starting and ending in Marrakesh, this journey takes you through Morocco's diverse landscapes and takes a desert trip from Marrakesh, close to the Algerian border.

Taking it easy, each day will involve a short drive as you edge closer and further away from the desert. The highlight of your trip will be catching the sunrise over the dunes after a night of dining and maybe even sleeping under the stars.

On your way back to Marrakesh, we take the long route, stopping in Fes, Chefchaouen, Rabat and Casablanca before finishing where we started. This is a magical and essential Moroccan journey.

Day 1

Arrival in Marrakesh

You'll be transferred from the airport to your riad in Marrakesh. You'll have the remainder of the day to relax and explore the Red City. If you have the energy, visiting Jemaa El-Fna at night for a colourful introduction to Morocco.

Day 2

Depart for a desert trip from Marrakesh and go through Tizi n'Tichka pass (2,260m) in the High Atlas Mountains. You will enjoy a snakey road through beautiful landscapes and Berber villages. The first stop will be in Ait Barka at around 10 am; relax and have breakfast if you wish. The second pause will be at the top of Tichka where you will go on a guided tour of the amazing Ait Ben Haddou. You will continue via the rose valley, Skoura palm grove to Dades valley where we stop for the night.

Day 3

Todha Gorges to the Merzouga Desert

Depart at 8 am after a Moroccan breakfast, taking the road of 1,000 Kasbahs driving around the colourful Berber villages of Dades valley. The first stop is Tineghir, famous for its beautiful palm groves and Jewish quarter, then the Todra Gorges where you can trek along the canyons about 300 metres high. Afterwards, we leave for Erg Chebbi in the Merzouga Desert. Take a camel ride at sunset to get to the camp. Spend the night in nomadic tents or outside under shooting stars.

Day 4

Leave the Desert for Fes

In the early morning, we will wake up to admire the beautiful sunrise over the desert and take photos, one of the most beautiful moments in the desert of Merzouga. After breakfast in our bivouac, we will return by camel to take a shower before we take the road to Fes passing by the beautiful Ziz Valley,
Errachidia, and Midelt to the cedar forest where we will stop to visit the famous wild monkeys. We continue our desert trip through the Middle Atlas until we arrive in Fes early evening

Fes City Tour

After breakfast in your riad, you start exploring the oldest city in Morocco, walking in its endless alleys
and small streets starting at the Royal Palace gate, and the Jewish quarter, the first Mellah ever built in Morocco. Visit all of the cultural and historical sites in Fes including the famous Al Qaraouine University, the oldest one in the world and the famous tanneries. After lunch, you will visit a local tile cooperative and a viewpoint that will show you the whole medina of Fes.

Day 6

A Day in Chefchaouen

A Day in Chefchaouen

Early morning, we will leave Fes and take a short journey to Chefchaouen, a city known for its faded blue hue. You'll have the remainder of the day to explore the steep alleys in a variety of washed-out shades of blue. The street of the medina are lined with leather shops and bursting with textiles that might make you curious to make a purchase. The riad that you will stay in has a distinct Andalusian feel, a reminder that this area was under Spanish rule until not so long ago.

Another short drive today takes us to Casablanca, the main trading port of Morocco that has a more modern feel. Along the way, we stop in the capital, Rabat, to see the royal palace and its ornate gates. Continuing onto to Casablanca, we will visit the Hassan Tower, the most iconic image of the city before you are free to explore by yourself.

One final drive takes us to Marrakesh where you will have time to get lost in the medina, exploring the souks and finding stunning architecture to marvel at along the way. The "Red City" of Marrakesh is packed and chaotic but that is all just part of the fun of this city. Don't forget to find a good place to eat to enjoy the mouthwatering Moroccan cuisine one last time before you depart tomorrow.
