Overview
This five-day trip is perfect for those looking to base themselves in Tokyo but still experience Japan's culture, historic villages and more. Over five days, you'll enjoy Tokyo and the surrounding areas by using the train with day trips from Tokyo.
With each trip out of the city, you'll have the option to be accompanied by a local guide. In this itinerary, you will discover the highlight of Tokyo, one of the biggest city in the world, on a walking tour, enjoy dynamic nature in Hakone and take an enjoyable day trip to Kamakura, an old Samurai city with a giant Buddha and quiet bamboo forest temple.
You'll also head to the north end of the Greater Tokyo area, Nikko, and explore the historical and photogenic sites and you'll also take a highlight day trip to Kyoto, the most cultural and beautiful city in Japan.

Day 1
Tokyo Highlights Private Walking Tour

Today, you'll arrive in Tokyo and begin to explore the city on a 10-hour walking tour on your first day. This highlight tour covers all the major sites with a local friendly guide. At most of the places, you may find something you have seen in a picture or TV such as Senso-ji temple, Shibuya Crossing, Takeshita Street, Shinjuku and many other landmarks. In the evening, you'll check into your hotel.

Day Trip from Tokyo to Hakone by Bullet Train & Private Walking Tour

Escape busy Tokyo and travel to Hakone by bullet train. After about two hours, you will reach Hakone, part of the Hakone-Fuji-Izu National Park. You can enjoy the beautiful scenery with a view of Mt.Fuji. Explore the nature of Hakone from the land, air, and lake with a local guide. You will also enjoy the ride of ropeway (cable cars) and a cruise ship on Lake Ashi. Your friendly knowledgeable guide will help you to make your adventure easy, safe, and fun!

Day Trip to Kamakura & Private Walking Tour

Today, you'll take a day trip to Kamakura. Kamakura is a city sometimes called "East Small Kyoto" with old Zen temples and a giant Buddha statue. Although it is not far from Tokyo (about one hour by train), you need to change train several times. It might be complicated if you are a first-timer. So, on this day, you could have a local guide to go to Kamakura from Tokyo together. In this itinerary, you can enjoy the giant Buddha, a zen temple with a bamboo grove and more.

Today, you'll head north from Tokyo for about 2.5 hours and you will get to the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Nikko. Nikko is the entrance to the Nikko National Park, the historic Toshogu Shrine and the mausoleum of Tokugawa Ieyasu, the founder of the Tokugawa shogunate. Your Nikko tour will transport you to places of rich Japanese history, culture, and breathtaking scenery all in one day.
