Today you have the day free to spend as you wish. You can spend the day relaxing at your hotel or go out exploring in the economic capital of Sri Lanka, Colombo. Here you can visit the National Museum, go to the bustling Independence Square or enjoy some shopping in the many boutique stores in the centre. You can also spend some time in the large public park of Galle Face Green or head to one of the oldest Buddhist temples in the city, the Gangaramaya Temple.

This morning your Sri Lanka tour from Colombo will go to Sigiriya. Along the way, you may wish to stop at a spice garden or a roadside restaurant for lunch After check-in at your hotel, you will pay a visit to the Dambulla Cave Temple. After, go on an evening trek to the rural village of Hiriwaduna and experience a boat ride, bullock cart ride and a walk through scenic paddy fields.

This morning you will climb the Sigiriya Lion Rock Fortress. The hike to the summit takes approximately 60-90 minutes and the terraced top has breathtakingly beautiful panoramic views of the vicinity. Then you will make your way to Kandy, and you will make numerous stops along the way. First, visit a spice garden to learn about Sri Lankan indigenous Ayurveda plants. After lunch, go to a gem museum and take a stroll around Kandy Lake before watching a Kandyan Cultural Dance show in the evening.

In the morning you will take part in the daily morning veneration ceremony, a beautiful cultural experience. After breakfast, you will embark on a 3-hour drive to Nuwara Eliya. En route stop to see the breathtaking waterfalls such as Ramboda Falls and Lover's Leap Falls before your hotel check-in. In the late afternoon, you will get to know the full process of tea production at a tea factory.

Horton Plains National Park and Gregory Lake

The Horton Plains National Park offers some great hiking opportunities over plateaus covered with grass, areas of thick forest, rocky landscape, waterfalls, and lakes. At Horton Plains you can visit numerous waterfalls such as Baker's Falls, Chimney Falls, Mini World's End and World's End. The hike is about 9-10 kilometres and takes approximately 3 hours to complete. Later in the afternoon walk through a lush strawberry farm and then take a scenic afternoon walk at the famous Gregory Lake.

After an early breakfast proceed to Nanu Oya train station to embark the train to Ella. This train journey is known as one of the most scenic train rides in the world and takes around 3 hours. The train to Ella will be sweeping through lush green meadows, beautiful tea plantations and picturesque misty mountains. Head to your hotel from Ella train station and later visit Demodara Nine arch bridge and Little Adams peak.

Today you will visit Yala National Park early in the morning with a packed breakfast, home to the highest density of leopards in the world and the second-largest national park in Sri Lanka. Proceed to Bentota in the afternoon and relax at your villa.

Head to Galle after breakfast. Built by the Dutch, beginning in 1663, Galle's core is the fort, a walled enclave surrounded on three sides by the ocean. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, this historic city is a delight to explore on foot, an endlessly exotic old trading port blessed with imposing Dutch-colonial buildings, ancient mosques and churches, grand mansions and museums. Wandering its rambling lanes you'll pass stylish cafes, quirky boutiques and impeccably restored hotels.

Relax at your hotel during the morning and visit the Kosgoda Turtle Hatchery in the late afternoon. This centre aims to protect sea turtle eggs and increase hatching rates. They also treat disabled turtles and treat the weak ones due to fishing. You will find many different species of turtles including a rare albino turtle. You will also have the unique experience of releasing the young turtles back to the ocean once they hatch during sunset.
