During the journey to Sigiriya, you will pass the iconic scenes of rural Sri Lanka including lakes, paddy fields, jungles and rural villages. You can make a stop if you like to take some pictures. To quench your thirst, you may enjoy a fresh king coconut or a lemon juice from a small-time vendor by the side of the road on your way. In the evening, you'll head out to explore the Dambulla Cave Temple, a world-renowned rock cave temple complex that dates back to the 2nd century BC.

Today you will embark on an exciting cycle ride through the back roads of some Habarana villages. You'll stop by a village house to taste a herbal drink and have a snack. Thereafter, you will enjoy a catamaran boat ride on a lake where you can witness both the Sigiriya and the Pidurangala Rocks at the same time. In the afternoon after a traditional lunch, you'll head to Minneriya National Park to do an afternoon safari to spot the elephants that this park is so well known for.

This morning, you'll have breakfast before you visit Sigiriya Rock Fortress. You'll climb to the top and admire the beautiful view. After climbing back down from this beautiful UNESCO site, you'll proceed to Kandy, the hill capital of Sri Lanka, surrounded by sky kissing hills, green valleys, pure rivers, lakes and waterfalls. Upon arrival, you'll check into your hotel and then head out to visit the famous Temple of the Tooth Relic and to visit a Batik factory.

Today, you'll trek to Heeloya Village to explore typical Sri Lankan village lifestyle. Heeloya is a very traditional village; it is unique in that it identifies itself with practising even to this day some of the local customs in daily life. Visitors to Heeloya can get a feel of life in a typical village in addition to trekking and sightseeing and culinary experience in true Sri Lankan style. In the evening, you'll attend a traditional Kandyan dance show at the Temple of the Tooth Relic.

This morning, after breakfast, you'll proceed to Ella. You can either travel by private car, which takes around 4 hours or alternatively you can arrange to travel by train. This route takes around 7 hours but it is one of the most scenic journeys in the world, passing through the tea plantations and mountains. If you would like to take the train this can be arranged. Upon arrival, you'll check into your hotel and hike up to Little Adam's Peak in time for sunset.

This morning, you'll check out of your hotel ready for your trip to Rathgama. Before leaving, you'll have the option to trek to Ella Rock to witness the magnificent views from the top. On your way to Rathgama, you will witness the Stilt Fishermen and Taprobane Island in Weligama. Upon arrival, you'll check into your hotel and then have the rest of the day to relax at your hotel.

You'll have the morning free to spend as you wish in Rathgama. You may want to visit a mask factory; many Sri Lankan mask artisans ply their trade along the Western, South Western and Southern coasts of the island. Later in the day, you'll enjoy a city tour in Galle with a visit to Dutch Fort in the afternoon. The Galle Fort was originally built by the Portuguese and later extended by the Dutch in 1663. This is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Today, you'll have the entire day free to relax. Rathgama is a small coastal town just eight kilometres south of Hikkaduwa. It is the perfect alternative to the other busier coastal towns in Sri Lanka, especially for those that want to hit the surf. Besides surfing or lounging on the beach, chilling poolside at your hotel and going for walks, there is not much to do in Rathgama other than relax!
