This nine-day tour takes in Myanmar in all its diversity, from the glistening spires of Yangon’s Shwedagon Pagoda to visiting the floating gardens and stilted monasteries of Inle Lake and ethnic tribes, the atmospheric pagodas of the forgotten capital, Bagan, legendary Mandalay and relaxing at famous Ngapali beach.

Today, you will arrive in Yangon and start sightseeing around the Yangon city to see the most important attractions within the city. You'll visit the Central Post Office, Sule Pagoda, Independence Monument, Little India, Chaukhtatgyi Temple, Kandawgyi Lake and Shwedagon Pagoda. You'll enjoy lunch and dinner at local restaurants which will be recommended to you.

This morning, you'll fly from Yangon to Bagan. You will spend the day exploring the architectural masterpieces of this amazing town by visiting a diverse selection of the important pagodas and temples in Bagan. You'll finish the day on a private boat tour down the Irrawaddy River to Shwezigon Pagoda. You will hopefully see a spectacular sunset, a treat when in Bagan.

Today you'll experience the best of Myanmar and the real way of life for most people by visiting villages near Bagan to view the local lifestyle. Explore Bagan by Pony cart and late afternoon transfer to a private wooden river boat. Sitting under the shade or on the open-deck you’ll be treated to fabulous views as you cruise down the Irrawaddy River to Shwezigon Pagoda. Relax and enjoy the scenery.

This morning, you'll catch a flight to the legendary Mandalay. Today, you'll visit the second-most sacred image in Myanmar, Mahamuni Pagoda, and a local artisan’s workshops of gold leaf making, woodcarving and marble carving. Next, you'll visit the Golden Palace Monastery, famous for its intricate woodcarvings. You'll continue to the Kuthodaw Pagoda, known as the world's largest book due to the Buddhist scripture carved on 729 marble slabs. Before sunset, you'll visit a 200-year-old teak bridge.

Boat Trip from Mandalay to Irrawaddy River & Visit Mingun

Boat Trip from Mandalay to Irrawaddy River & Visit Mingun

You'll board a private local boat for a trip up the Irrawaddy to Mingun (45 minutes each way) where you'll visit the Mingun Bell, the world’s largest intact bronze bell and the unfinished Mingun Paya. Mingun's other highlight is the Hisnbyume Pagoda. After returning to Mandalay in the afternoon, you'll continue sightseeing and visit the ruined remains of the Royal Palace. This evening, you'll enjoy a commanding overview of the city from Mandalay Hill.

Fly to Heho, the Gateway to Inle Lake

After breakfast, you'll catch a flight to Heho, the gateway to Inle Lake. From Heho, you'll drive to Nyaung Shwe and transfer to boat to your hotel. You'll visit the Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda, the holiest religious site in southern Shan State and be amazed by the local handicrafts, silk weaving, wooden hand-looms and traditional blacksmith methods along the way. You'll pass the endless floating gardens, houses, monasteries built on stilts on the lake before continuing to Nampan village.

You'll begin your day with a visit to the market, where hill tribe people are dressed in colourful, traditional outfits. You'll continue sightseeing on Inle Lake, manoeuvring by boat though long, scenic channels. You'll visit the fascinating village of Indein, with its complex of ancient shrines and stupas and walk though exotic colonnades of stairways and shop stalls. You'll see the lake’s unique “leg rowers” – the Intha people rowing standing up with one leg wrapped around an oar.

This morning, you'll take a flight back to Yangon. Then, you'll enjoy a visit to Scott Market and drive through the city and observe the influences of other cultures in the region like St Mary's Cathedral, built in 1899, and the Buddhist landmarks of Sule Paya and over 100-year-old beautiful Rangoon Synagogue. Here, you will have the opportunity to meet with the Trustees of the Synagogue and learn about the Jewish Life in the Pagoda Land. Lastly, you'll visit Little India and Chinatown
