Overview

We have specifically designed this itinerary to allow you to experience the top four destinations of Myanmar; beginning with the highlights of Yangon, filled with its fantastic ancient heritage sites. Your tour continues with a chance to witness the archaeological wonders of Bagan with its 2,200 temples that were once part of over 10,000, this is one of the highest concentrations of temples in the world!

You'll then go to the impressive royal capital of Mandalay where you can see Myanmar from Mandalay hill which is dotted with temples. You'll finish your exploration of Myanmar at the blissful Inle Lake where life is peaceful and simple yet innovative, as people have adapted their lives to live on the water.

Day 1

Today is your arrival day in Yangon and your journey starts after you are picked up at the airport. Once you have checked into the hotel, you'll head out on your first tour in Myanmar. Enjoy the architecture of this wonderful city as you see the highlights of Yangon! You'll visit the most important sights in the city and have a brief introduction to the history of the city.

The whole day sightseeing in Yangon. Today you'll have the chance to explore the highlights of Yangon, the main highlight of the day being the circular train ride to the colourful local market where two attractions come together as you see the innovative locations for markets. Acquainted with local life, you'll then visit the famous temples and learn a little more about life in Yangon.

In the morning fly to Bagan. On arrival you will be taken on a tour around the ancient sites and temples, exploring one of the most famous areas of Myanmar. Bagan was once home to tens of thousands of temples, now there are just 2,200 which is amazing nonetheless! Today, you'll see some of the oldest and best-preserved temples, finishing with a spectacular sunset as you watch the hot air balloons fly over head.

Take to the ancient sites in style by travelling for the day in horse and cart. With thousands of temples to explore, this is one of the most convenient ways to see all of the temples you need to. You'll go to some of the oldest and most significant landmarks of the old city delving deeper into the architecture and history of Old Bagan in its hey-day. Finish off the day at Nan Myint Tower for another stunning sunset between the hot air balloons that dot the skyline.

Day 5

Drive to Mandalay and Sightseeing

You will be taken by private car from Bagan to Mandalay. On arrival, you'll be taken on a tour of the best sights in the area including Kuthodaw, known as the world's largest book; holding many scripts of Buddhist teaching. Watch another great sunset at Mandalay Hill. The city took its name from this hill, and known for its abundance of pagodas and monasteries, and has been a major pilgrimage site for Burmese Buddhists for nearly two centuries.

Day 6

Mingun and Sagaing

In the morning, you'll visit the sights of Mingun, stopping by old temples and visiting the second-largest bell in the world. In the afternoon, it's on to another area called Sagaing where you'll visit some temples before climb Sagaing Hill, dotted with pagodas, shrines and monasteries. One of the highlights of the day will be stopping by a silversmithing workshop, where you'll see the artisans at work. In the evening, return to Mandalay.

Day 7

From Mandalay to Heho and Inle Lake

From Mandalay to Heho and Inle Lake

You will fly to the Shan State to visit Inle Lake, famous for its floating villages and gardens and the unique way of life of the local Intha people, with their living communities based entirely on the water. When you arrive, you'll be taken on a tour of the lake and visit two temples that are built on stilts, similar to the houses. Although very old, these temples are made entirely from wood and impeccably well preserved.

Today, you'll go to the neighbouring Indein village to the west of Inle Lake, known for its market and two groups of ancient pagodas. You'll visit a series of pagodas and workshops that will give you a unique insight into the innovative ways of building and making things that the villagers have. You'll continue to serval other villages to meet the locals of Inle Lake.
