Overview
Over eight wonderful days, you will explore this beautiful region in a tour of Northern Italy. From Lake Garda to the Eastern Riviera, Northern Italy will leave you astonished at its striking geographical diversity.
Culinary pleasures and cultural treasures await you on this journey. Beginning in Sirmione, a resort town on the banks of northern Italy's Lake Garda on a beautiful little peninsula, you'll spend your first couple of days exploring the lake's shores and the town's thermal baths.
Moving on, you'll arrive in Milan where you'll spend your days exploring its most famed dining district and the city's main sights by historic tram. You'll then catch a train to Santa Margherita where you'll relax on its picture-perfect seaside promenade, take a boat to the elite town of Portofino and travel to the five beautiful villages of the Cinque Terre.

Day 1
Arrive in Sirmione

Upon arrival, you'll be met at the airport and transferred to your hotel on the shores of Lake Garda. After checking in, you'll have the rest of the day free to explore the area. Sirmione is a resort town on the banks of northern Italy's Lake Garda on a beautiful little peninsula. The area is renowned for its thermal baths and medieval castle which overlooks the lake. You can explore the town then head back to your hotel and take advantage of your spa access and thermal baths.

Free Day in Sirmione

Today, you have yet another day free to enjoy this beautiful part of the world. Situated on a picturesque peninsula on the shores of Lake Garda, Sirmione is famous for its thermal baths which you can relax in today and its medieval castle which overlooks the lake, Rocca Scaligera, which you can explore today. Spend your day admiring the pretty buildings and Roman ruins around this lake from the advantageous spot of a bar or restaurant.

Day 3
Travel to Milan & Navigli Tour

After breakfast, you'll check out and continue your tour of northern Italy to Milan. The journey will take around two hours. After a few hours of free time, you'll head out with your local English-speaking guide to explore Milan's Navigli area where small boutiques line up alongside exquisite restaurants specialising in authentic Milanese cuisine. In the evening, a reservation will be made for you at Ristorante Di Oscar, a high-end restaurant in Milan.

Explore Milan on a Historic Tram City Tour

Today, you will explore Milan in the best way possible on a historic tram. You will pass through the Sforza Castle, Brera district, the imposing Milan Cathedral, Galleria Vittorio Emanuele and La Scala Opera House. The tour ends on Corso Buenos Aires, one of Milan’s main shopping avenues, making for a perfect stop off to enjoy some free time to enjoy lunch and shop. The rest of the afternoon and evening will be free to enjoy as you wish.

Your Tour of Northern Italy Goes to Santa Margherita

This morning after breakfast, you'll take a private transfer to Milan central station and then a train to Santa Margherita. Upon reaching the hotel, you'll check in and then have the rest of the day to explore Santa Margherita. Famous for its picture-perfect seaside promenade lined with elegant hotels overlooking yachts in the harbour, Santa Margherita was a small fishing village which has become a much-loved holiday destination.

Boat Tour to Portofino

After breakfast today, you'll have the opportunity to take a boat tour to the town of Portofino. Here, you can stroll around its yacht-filled harbour, soaking up its elite feel. Enjoy some seafood by the sea and window shop its designer boutiques. When you're ready you can catch the boat back, then you'll have the rest of the day free to spend in Santa Margherita. Your hotel boasts a spa with indoor and outdoor pools as well as a range of treatments to take advantage of.

Free Time in Cinque Terre

After breakfast, you'll travel to Cinque Terre by train and start exploring the villages on your own. The Cinque Terre is a string of five beautifully colourful fishing villages linked by hiking paths and a quaint coastal train. From sleepy fishing villages, they have shot to the top of everyone's must-travel list. You can spend the day exploring this 6-mile stretch of coast and dining on delicious fresh seafood before returning to Santa Margherita.
