Begin your Morrocan adventure in the breathtaking Imperial city of Marrakesh which will set the tone of the entire trip as you head out to explore on your sahara desert trip from Marrakesh.

Exciting souks, fascinating architecture and meeting friendly locals will help you get acquainted with the Moroccan culture, history, architecture, hospitality and cuisine.

As you make your way through the Merzouga Desert, you'll visit incredible sites including the alpine-style town of Ifrane, Midelt and the lush green valley of Ziz. After experiencing the utmost luxury in a desert camp, you'll make your way to Ouarzazate, visiting old desert capitals and ancient trading points along the way.

Each day is just as exciting as the next. You'll learn a little more about the complex history of this country by stopping at Meknes Volubilis and the sacred Moulay Idriss. Your final day will see you travelling back to Marrakesh via the matrix of Kasbahs and fine Moroccan earthen clay architecture known as Aït Ben Haddou and the scenic mountain pass of Tizi n'Tichka.

Day 1

Upon arrival, you'll be picked up from Marrakesh Airport and transferred to your hotel in the city. Today, you'll get to know the red-mud-baked city of Marrakesh with a full-day guided tour with a local guide who knows all of the best spots. Beginning with the Koutoubia Mosque and Bahia Palace in the morning, you'll head to Ben Youssef Madrasa after lunch, once the largest Islamic college in North Africa. You'll then head to the beautiful gardens of Majorelle, designed by the French painter, and finish the tour at Jemma el-Fna, where a surprise on every corner awaits you.

Start Your Sahara Desert Trip from Marrakesh

After breakfast, you will be driving across the Atlas Mountains and the peak of Tizi-n'Tichka visiting many small Berber villages along the way before arriving at the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah. You'll spend some time visiting the Kasbah and having some lunch before you continue to Ouarzazate. Arriving mid-afternoon, you'll check into your hotel and then have the rest of the afternoon and evening to explore.

This morning, you'll have some breakfast before you continue your Sahara desert trip from Marrakesh through the roses valley and into the Dades Gorge where you will have a nice walk before continuing to Todgha Gorge and into the Sahara Desert. Once in the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi, you will climb aboard a desert camel that will transport you across the dunes to see the sunset before reaching the desert camp for the night.

Merzouga to Fes

Early this morning, you'll wake up to see the sunrise from the top of the Chebbi. You'll then have breakfast at the camp before you take your camel back to the hotel and head north towards Fes via the High Atlas Mountains. On the way, you will drive through Rissani, Erfoud, Errachidia and Medilt. You'll stop for lunch and take some pictures of wild monkeys on the Cedar forests before arriving in Fes, your next destination.

Today, you'll see Fes as few travellers have done before. With a local knowledgeable guide and driver, you'll explore the depths of the city and learn all about the history of the areas and traditions of the people as you do. Beginning with the Royal Palace, you'll then head into the Jewish quarter of Fes, visiting the Ibn Danan Synagogue and Jnan Sbil Garden afterwards. As your day continues, you'll visit the ceramic factories and the tanneries, learning all about these huge trades in Fes.

Today, you'll leave Fes behind and continue your journey towards Meknes discovering Volubilis and Moulay Idriss on the way. Volubilis is a partly excavated city that was once a Berber then Roman settlement. You'll then visit one of Morocco's most important pilgrimage sites, Moulay Idriss followed by the Mausoleum of Moulay Idriss and the ingeniously designed royal stables. You'll finish the day exploring Rabat's Old Quarter before heading to Meknes where you'll stay.
