Overview
Enjoy the culinary delights and fascinating gastronomy scene found on the island of Crete. This itinerary is the perfect escape for self-proclaimed foodies that want to learn more about Greek cuisine and local culinary traditions that have been in place for centuries here.
Over 8 days, you'll get the opportunity to visit villages nestled in scenic landscapes that are home to wineries, olive mills and farmhouses. You will be welcomed by the famous Cretan hospitality and invited to sample some of the most famous products made on the island, such as olive oil, honey, lemonade and even snails!
On top of your Crete food tour, you'll also witness some of the most charming villages, like the Venetian harbour town of Chania, which is set to a backdrop of azure seas and magnificent mountains.

Day 1
Welcome to Crete!

Arrive today at Chania International Airport and take a bus transfer to your hotel in Kissamos, which is an hour-long journey. After you have checked into your accommodation, your Crete food tour will begin with a welcome dinner at the Cellar Taverna in the evening, which is situated right on the seafront. This family-run taverna of over 20 years has an excellent reputation for its fresh fish and seafood speciality dishes.

Day 2
Cooking Class of Traditional Cretan Dishes

This morning, accompanied by the chef at the Cellar Taverna, you will enjoy a hands-on cooking class to learn how to cook some of the tastiest Cretan dishes such as Greek salad, tzatziki, lamb stew and stuffed vegetables. You will be able to enjoy your creations later for lunch and dinner. In the afternoon you will have some free time to explore Crete at your leisure.

Day 3
Vist to Cretan Farmhouse

This morning you will travel to a small village to visit a local farmhouse. The owners will welcome you and offer you an insight into Cretan life. The family here is self-sufficient with their own produce and livestock. You will enjoy a wine and cheese tasting and you will get to try some of the homemade products here like walnuts, olive oil and lemonade. Lunch will be in a local taverna in the hills. The afternoon is free for you to relax in Kissamos, at the beach or at your hotel.

Visit a Winery, Olive Mill and Cheesemaker

Continuing your Crete food tour, today you will visit several local producers in the area to learn about the products they make and the importance they have in local Cretan life. You will visit a winery, a cheesemaker, a sweet maker and an olive mill. Enjoy lunch in a taverna in the picturesque village of Deliana. You will also have the opportunity to visit the beautiful 13th-century church in this town.

Explore Charming Chania

Enjoy a full-day visit to Chania today. An atmospheric Venetian harbour town, Chania is set against a spectacular backdrop of majestic mountains and aquamarine seas. You will wander the streets and alleyways of the old town to reach the bustling market where you'll have lunch in one of the traditional
tavernas. This afternoon is free for you to explore Chania further at your leisure, and you have the opportunity to stay and enjoy dinner in Chania harbour if you wish.

Free Day in Crete

Today you have a full day at your leisure to enjoy Crete as you please, giving you time to explore some other parts of the island if you wish. Enjoy a relaxed beach day at Seitan Limania, a great spot to chill out and enjoy the sparkling Aegean Sea. If you're looking for a more adventurous activity, the hike around Balos Lagoon provides some spectacular views. History buffs can visit the archaeological site in Heraklion, where you'll find centuries-old frescoes and baths.

Crete's Botanical Garden and Farewell Dinner

This morning pay a visit to Crete’s picturesque botanical park. Strolling through the wonderful scenery of the botanical gardens ou will learn more about plants, herbs, fruit, vegetables as well as the numerous species of animals that inhabit the landscape. Lunch will be at the botanical park followed by the afternoon at leisure before a farewell dinner at the Cellar Taverna.
