Overview
Take this seven-day cultural adventure if you like slow travel; travelling only short distances where every stop makes you feel richer with memorable experiences of culture, history, folklore and traditions.
As well as covering a number of famous and historical sites as you take a trip to Sofia, Plovdiv, Starosel, Haskovo and back to Sofia, you'll also have the pleasure of exploring the tasty, sometimes quite adventurous, traditional Bulgarian food, famous Bulgarian wines and local strong beverages.
This trip is a unique cultural journey through Bulgaria that will leave you will a strong appreciation of the country.

Itinerary
Day 1
Trip to Sofia Begins!

Today you start your trip to Sofia. Upon arrival, your guide will meet and greet you at the airport and organise your transfer to the hotel. If your flight is in the early morning, you can leave your luggage at the hotel and go around to explore the capital of Bulgaria. If you're up for exploring, there are a number of places you can visit by yourself while on your trip to Sofia including the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral and the Central Sofia Market Hall.

Day 2
Plovdiv and Starosel Spa & Winery

Today, you'll depart from Sofia en route to the winery where you'll be staying. On the way, you'll make a stop to explore the Old Town of Plovdiv for a guided tour. You will have the opportunity to grab some lunch here. You'll then continue on to Starosel, where you will stay overnight. Starosel is a very special place for you to stay, where you will taste a selection of famous wines. The history of wine will be presented to you in a visual tour in Starosel’s authentic winery upon arrival.

Day 3
Rose Refinery & Tracian Tomb

This morning, you'll check out from the winery and travel by bus to the Ethnographic Complex Damascena. Here, you will see and learn about the creation of and uses for aromatic Rose Oil. You'll enjoy a tasting of rose wine, rose rakia and rose oil. Lunch will be served on-site and then you will continue on to your guesthouse in Mineralni Bani. In the afternoon, you will be taken to see one of the many famous Thracian tombs in Bulgaria, the Thracian Tomb of Kazanlak.

"Dimov" Bio Beefarm to Haskovo

Enjoy a few hours to yourself before departing for the nearby town of Haskovo. Today you will visit a local bee farm where you will learn about the bees, taste some delicious honey and enjoy a traditional lunch served by the owner. Upon your arrival in Hashkovo, you are free for the rest of the day. You can take a walk around this quaint little village or relax in your guesthouse.

Day 5
Perperikon & Lake Kardjali

After breakfast, you will go on a tour to the archaeological complex of Perperikon (otherwise known as Perperik). Before visiting Perperikon, you'll stop by the amazing rock formations known as the Stone Mushrooms formed over years of erosion. You will then go for lunch at a floating restaurant on Lake Kardjali. The rest of the afternoon will be free for you to relax and in the evening, you'll be taken to another traditional Bulgarian restaurant for dinner.

Day 6
Asenova Fortress, Bachkovo Monestery & Back to Sofia

Leaving straight after breakfast, you will travel back to Sofia. Along the way, you will stop at one of the most famous Bulgarian monasteries, the Bachkovo and Asen's Fortress to explore these wonderful sites. Lunch will be at a local restaurant in the surroundings of the monastery, then you will begin your trip to Sofia. You can expect to arrive in the early evening. Here, you will say goodbye to your local guide and enjoy your last evening in the Bulgarian capital.

Trip to Sofia Comes to an End!

This morning you'll enjoy a final breakfast at the hostel. When you are ready to leave, ask the reception staff to order a taxi for you to go to the airport.
