You'll start in Wellington exploring iconic film locations and getting up close and personal to the props, weapons and costumes on your Weta Workshop tour. Then it's off to Queenstown for an incredible few days exploring the breathtaking mountains views and famous spots from the films including a Wilderness Jet Boat Safari.
Throughout your trip, you'll be staying in very comfortable four-star hotels; combined with the thrill of adventure on this trip, you are in for a real treat!

Day 2
Journey into Middle Earth!

Today, you'll venture out on a half day tour exploring the very best filming locations the Wellington Region has to offer. Leaving the city behind, you'll seek out the beautiful, natural settings that made New Zealand into 'Middle Earth'. Starting at the Hutt River, you'll visit the Gardens of Isengard and the Kaitoke Regional Park, before making your way up Mount Victoria at the end of the tour to admire the view over Wellington city.

Day 3
Weta Workshop Cave & Miniatures Stage Tour
Hide details
Today, you will join your Weta Cave Workshop tour and get up close to the props, weapons and costumes created for The Lord of the Rings. You'll also see the artists at work on the tour stage and have a peek through windows that look directly into the workshop; whilst you may not be able to enter the workshop, you can still get a sense of what it is like to work in there. In the afternoon, you'll return to Wellington where you can relax or explore for the rest of the day.

Day 4
Travel to Queenstown

Today, you will travel to the stunning city of Queenstown, the adventure capital of New Zealand, and will be met by your driver on arrival and taken by private transfer to your hotel. Upon arriving at your resort which boasts incredible views of the famous Remarkables Mountains. Situated on the shore of Lake Wakatipu, you'll be able to admire the lake and stroll around it this afternoon.

Dart River Wilderness Jet Boat Safari

Today, you'll enjoy a Wilderness Safari that takes you on a spectacular 1.5-hour jet boat journey through the Dart River and an easy walk through the 'Heritage Trail' at Paradise. You'll also journey by 4WD coach via a scenic backroad route and stopping to view scenery that has formed the epic backdrop for many international films, including The Lord of the Rings. This is an adventure-filled day that will leave you with unforgettable memories!

4WD Safari of the Scenes Tour to Glenorchy

Today, your 4-wheel-drive scenic tour will take you past breathtaking mountain and forest views along the shores of Lake Wakatipu towards Glenorchy, a small settlement made famous by blockbuster filming locations, and on into Paradise. The tour includes the film locations of Isengard and Ithilien Camp, plus beech forests near those used for Lothlorien. In the afternoon, you'll return to Queenstown.
