Overview
Embark on a fascinating trip to the Amazon at La Selva Lodge. This trip begins in Quito with a full-day city tour around Ecuador's capital, which has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
You'll then travel to the La Selva Lodge in the Amazon for a total immersion into the beautiful natural environment that Ecuador has to offer. With the home base of La Selva, you will be able to see parrot clay licks, go on nocturnal wildlife walks, view the exotic flora and fauna from observation towers and much more.
The lodge will allow you to appreciate the beauty of the Amazon while enjoying great comforts and delicious food. This was one of the first lodges in Ecuador and it is an award-winning eco-lodge. Sharing a border on the Yasuni National Park, you will be able to gaze into one of the most diverse bio-diverse areas on the planet!

Day 1
Arrive in Quito

As soon as you arrive in Quito, an airport representative will be waiting for you at your airplane gate; they will assist during the migration and customs procedures. After customs, a representative will be waiting for you with a special welcome gift and to accompany you during the transfer from the airport to the hotel. Quito’s airport is located 45 minutes away from the main city. Upon arrival, you'll check-in and then have the rest of the afternoon and evening to explore.

Day 2
City Tour & Middle of the World
Hide details
Today, you'll visit the Middle of the World Monument, situated at 0°0’0” latitude. Take a picture with your feet on both hemispheres! Then you'll continue the tour to the Intiñan Museum. After lunch, you'll discover Quito’s beautiful historic center, named a World Heritage Site by the UNESCO. Learn about the different architectural styles in the Old Town, stroll through cobblestone streets and meet some artisans who’ve kept traditions alive for centuries.

Day 3
Welcome to the La Selva Lodge

You will travel from Quito to the La Selva Lodge in the Amazon today, which involves a domestic flight and a two-hour motorized canoe ride. The manager will be waiting to greet you with a refreshing juice, snacks and a short briefing with information about your stay at La Selva. The naturalist guides will give you the basic info about the Amazon and how La Selva Lodge operates and how you can make the most of this unique setting. Afterward, you'll enjoy a hike.

Day 4
Wildlife Exploration & Canoe Ride

Today, you'll accompany local guides to the observation tower to view colorful birds and possibly even primates during your trip to the Amazon. You'll then hike along the trails to learn more about the ecology and natural history of this region. In the evening, you'll enjoy a canoe ride with the help of a flashlight to look for wildlife active at night. This will also be a great opportunity for star gazing!

Parrot Clay Lick & Garzacocha Lagoon

Today, you'll wake up early to see many bird species feasting at the clay lick! Afterward, you'll experience a cultural interaction with a Kichua woman. In the afternoon, you'll visit the Garzacocha Lagoon and enjoy a nocturnal walk in the evening to search for wildlife active at night. At the end of the day, you will have a departure briefing where the manager will provide you with all the necessary information about your departure procedure for the next morning.

Finish Your Trip to the Amazon & Onward Flight

In accordance with your briefing the night before, you will have an early wake-up call, breakfast and you'll depart from the lodge. The lodge staff will assist you with your checked luggage and the motorized canoe ride will head upstream back to Coca, where the lodge representative will take you to the airport to help you with your checked luggage and the boarding passes for the flight back to Quito.
