Kick back and relax in amazing scenery as you explore Northern Vietnam, the most scenic region in the country.
This Vietnam travel experience takes you cycling between rice terraces that extend across flat plains and stagger up into the mountains, and trekking to unveil the ancient majesty of local nature. Your trip will be a mix of off-the-beaten-path experiences and over some well-trodden ones as you visit Ninh Binh, Halong and the not-so-well-known Mai Chau.

Day 1
Arrive in Hanoi
Hide details 
When you arrive Hanoi, you will be met by your guide and transferred to your hotel. The rest of the day is free at your own pace for you to explore the Old Quarter.

Day 2
Nature in Ninh Binh

After breakfast, you will be transferred to Cuc Phuong National Park, one of Vietnam's oldest national parks. It's approximately 22,000ha of subtropical forest and karst limestone scenery, and home to an extraordinary range of unique species. You will venture into the heart of the jungle on a 7km soft loop trek to a one-thousand-year-old sequoia tree and a prehistoric cave before checking in at a stilt house. After refreshments, if time permits, take a cycling tour to the surrounding villages.

Day 3
Trang An and Bai Dinh

After breakfast depart for the Trang An complex and take a 2.5-hour boat trip to discover amazing scenery with mountains and rivers and Dot Cave – the longest one in this area. You will then take a boat and head back to the wharf. After lunch, visit Bai Dinh Pagoda, the biggest pagoda in Vietnam with 500 La Han statues and the biggest bronze Buddha statue in Vietnam which is 10 metres in height and 100 tons in weight. Afterwards, drive to Mai Chau late in the afternoon.

Cycling and Trekking in Mai Chau

Mai Chau is a rural district of Hoa Binh province. The Mai Chau area is well known for its stilt houses. The type of stilt houses, or pile dwellings, are called Thai stilt houses, from the ethnic minority that live here that are originally from Thailand. This morning you will explore the natural wonders of Mai Chau, with its breathtaking scenery in the mountains, by trekking through villages and cycling through paddy fields in Mai Chau. This will will make for a beautiful Vietnam travel memory.

Day 5
Halong City and Bay

After breakfast this morning, you will drive to Halong Bay. On arrival, board your junk and enjoy a seafood lunch. The cruise will begin with a visit to the Surprise Caves. Here you will take an hour-long walking tour of the cave. Then, you will enjoy a swim at Titov Beach or choose conquer the peak and view the panorama of Halong Bay at the top. Your cruise will return you to the city to check into your hotel.

Halong back to Hanoi

After breakfast, you will drive back to Hanoi and visit Dong Trieu Pottery Village on the way. This tour takes you to the most famous and long-established pottery village in Vietnam. You will have a leisurely drive along the banks of the Red River, admire the landscape and the old-age process of making pottery. You may even make your own. After lunch, transfer to the airport for your flight home.
