Overview

North-East England has fascinated historians for centuries, with battle and turmoil over the fight for Scotland, the Borders, as they are known was where the line that divides Scotland and England, was of great contention.

This tour starts in Berwick, the only bastion of England with perfectly preserved city walls, heading south, we go back in time to when Christianity was first brought to the country on Holy Island or Lindisfarne, as it is known, and Bamburgh Castle, the northern stronghold.

Towards Whitby, York and the Lake District, you'll get an idea of just how beautiful the English Countryside can be as we visit abandoned abbeys and beautiful gardens each with their own fascinating history.

This England itinerary starts and ends in Edinburgh, however, with no airport transfers, it's perfect for further exploration of Britain.
