A private driver will collect you from the airport and take you on a scenic drive to the city of Kandy - set on a plateau surrounded by mountains, which are home to tea plantations and biodiverse rainforest. The city's heart is scenic Kandy Lake, which is popular for walking around. Kandy is famed for sacred Buddhist sites, including the Temple of the Tooth (Sri Dalada Maligawa) shrine.

Day 2
Gardens and Saphires

Today brings a trip to the Royal Botanic Gardens, where you can see beautifully kept flowers and vegetation native to Sri Lanka. It has a collection of over 4000 species of plants, including orchids, spices, medicinal plants and palm trees. On a tour around the city, you will visit a gem store and see how the famous blue and star sapphires are mined, cut and polished using traditional methods. In the evening, enjoy a traditional cultural dance show.

Nuwara Eliya - ‘Little England’

Nuwara Eliya is also known as ‘Little England’ for its Victorian-era structures, the mild weather, scenes of tea plantations, waterfalls and mountain ranges. Visit a tea factory and plantation to see how the tea you drink is produced. At the Ramboda Waterfall viewpoint, the cascading water is a sight to behold. Afterwards, visit the highest mountain in Sri Lanka ‘Piduruthalagala Mountain’ for its panoramic view. Enjoy a walk around the scenic Gregory Lake in the evening.

Jeep Safari in Udawalawe National Park

After breakfast, you will take the road to the south of the country, passing through the wide Ravana Falls where you'll see the water gushing down a concave rock. Then, prepare yourself for a safari at the Udawalawe National Park. This national park is a hot spot for rare bird conservation such as the black-capped kingfisher and the white wagtail. The large elephant population is the main attraction, with around 400 to 500 wild elephants residing in the park.

Colombo City Tour

This is the last day of your Sri Lanka 5 day itinerary. Visit the Dutch Fort Heritage Site in the Bay of Galle on the southwest coast. Then, proceed to the rich colonial heritage port city of Colombo. You can go for a city walk to see the Ayurvedic centres, Dutch architecture of Pettah, Galle Face Green, Independence Square, the old parliament house and Beira Lake surroundings, to name but a few. Afterwards, your driver will transfer you to the airport for your onward journey.
