Overview
This has to be one of the best lemur experiences in the world! Andasibe National Park is the best place to spot the Indri, the largest living lemur, and on this four-day tour, you'll have plenty of opportunities to do so!
The park is separated into two distinct areas, Speciale d’Analamazaotra to the south, and Park National de Mantidia to the north. The lush forest throughout is covered with moss and trees, with over 100 extraordinary orchid species and plenty of lakes. The colourful wildlife includes more than 100 bird species and hundreds of insects, including some amazingly huge, brightly marked butterflies.
After being immersed in nature, you'll move onto the city to get a feel for the history of Madagascar with a short tour of the old town of Antananarivo, you'll discover the unique architecture and stories of the capital, formerly the capital of the Merina people.

Day 1
Arrival in Antananarivo

Upon arrival at Ivato Airport, your guide/driver will be waiting for you once you are through customs. You will be transferred through the bustling city of Antananarivo –also known as Tanna– as you begin your lemur experience! You'll stop off at the lively market on your way to the Sakamanga Hotel where you'll be free to relax and freshen up before dinner.

Day 2
Vakona Forest Lodge Hike & Lemur Experience

This morning, you'll wake up to the sounds of the Indri lemur. After a scrumptious breakfast, your driver will transfer you to visit Lemur Island, the crocodiles and the fossa. You will then head to the Andasibe-Mantadia National Park in search of the largest lemur of Madagascar and the world: the indri lemur. You'll have fun trekking through this incredible forest on your lemur experience.

Day 3
Mantadia National Park Hiking

Today, you'll spend another full day hiking through this amazing rainforest - don't forget your rain jacket! You will see endemic flora such as the 'travellers tree' or Ravinala and more than 100 species of orchids inside the tropical lush rainforest. Also, you may spot the sifaka and the elusive rare hairy-eared dwarf lemur, the eastern woolly lemur, red-bellied lemur, many species of reptiles, frogs and chameleons, like the Parson's chameleon.

Travel Back to Tanna, City Tour & Departure

Today you will be heading back to Tanna, on a four-hour drive where you will explore various sites on the way. You'll stop in Marovezo, to visit the small reserve of 'exotic Madagascar' to see chameleons, crocodiles, snakes, butterflies and bats. Once in Tanna, you will embark on a city tour of the old town and experience the bustling city life before heading to the airport for your departure flight.
