Experience all of the beauty of northern Wales on this superb four-day luxury trip visiting the English border town of Chester and the heart of Snowdonia in North Wales.

Beginning in medieval Chester, you'll visit the engineering marvel of the Victorian Aqueduct built by the British engineer, Thomas Telford. The next few days will lead you on exciting journeys on historic steam railways and through UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

You'll also dive into the culture, learning about the history of the Welsh slate industry and the people that lived through it. Throughout your Wales tour, you'll be rewarded with breathtaking scenery, particularly from the Great Orme Headland and from the top of Mount Snowdon.

Itinerary

Day 1

Pontcysyllte Aquaduct & Medieval Chester

Your driver will meet you at Manchester Airport and then take you to see the stunning Victorian Aqueduct built by the British engineer, Thomas Telford. You will then travel to Chester where you can buy lunch and you will then enjoy a guided walk around the medieval walled city. If you'd like to extend the tour, you can then explore the grand Chester cathedral where the walking tour will end. Afterwards, you can relax in your hotel and enjoy dinner in the hotel's restaurant.

Day 2

Heritage Steam Train

Heritage Steam Train

After breakfast and checking out of the Chester Hotel, you will be taken to Porthmadog for some free time to buy refreshments before taking the world-famous heritage steam train ride to Caernarfon where you'll pass through the stunning Snowdonia National Park. On arriving in Caernarfon, you will visit the Edwardian Castle which is another UNESCO World Heritage Site and then your driver will take you to your hotel in Llanberis in the heart of Snowdonia. Dinner will be in the hotel.

Day 3

National Slate Museum & Snowdon Mountain Railway

After breakfast, you will take a short walk to visit the National Slate Museum where you will learn about the history of the Welsh slate industry in an interactive demonstration which will transport you back in time. Through stories and relics, you'll learn about what life was like during this era. You will then catch the funicular steam railway to the summit of Snowdon which is the highest mountain in Wales, here you'll catch breathtaking views on the way up and from the top.

Day 4

Conway & Llandudno Tramway

This is the final day of your Wales tour. After breakfast, your driver will meet you and take you to Conway and Llandudno. In Llandudno, you will take a scenic tramway ride, the only remaining cable-operated tramway in the whole of the UK, to the summit of the Great Orme headland where you'll have magnificent views. You'll then have some free time to enjoy the town and enjoy some lunch before being transferred back to Manchester Airport for your onward journey.
