Overview

This trip offers a unique opportunity to experience many highlights of Cambodia and Vietnam from world-famous heritage sites to natural landscapes and welcoming, friendly people.

Your Vietnam and Cambodia itinerary will start in Phnom Penh to discover the capital city of Cambodia and learn about the cruel history of Khmer Rouge in this city. Then, it is on to the world-famous Angkor in Siem Reap, you will have a few days there to deeply understand the complex culture that the Khmer Empire left in Siem Reap through the many temples that are there.

The trip then leads you onto Vietnam where you will see all the highlights of this beautiful country, from the 1000-year-old Hanoi capital to the fabulous Halong Bay, Hoi An Ancient Town and Hue Imperial City; Ho Chi Minh City, Cu Chi Tunnels and also a day exploring the colourful Mekong Delta.

This is a fascinating combination of two countries in one trip and gives you an in-depth insight into the rich cultures of both Vietnam and Cambodia.

Arrive at Phnom Penh airport, where you will meet your tour guide and transfer to the hotel. Later, you'll enjoy a half-day city tour of Phnom Penh, visiting the Royal Palace and Silver Pagoda. Today, you'll take an excursion to Tonle Batie, which is 40 kilometres from Phnom Penh, and visit a pair of old Angkorian-era temples of Ta Prohm and Yeay Pow. In the afternoon, you'll visit the harrowing Tuol Sleng Museum before continuing to the Killing Field of Choeung Ek where prisoners from Security Prison 21 were taken for execution. It is grim afternoon, but essential for understanding just how far Cambodia has come in the intervening years.

Today, you'll take a short flight to Siem Riep. Upon arrival, you'll head to the hotel and check-in. Later, you'll visit the wonders of Angkor Wat, starting with a trip to the Southern Gate of Angkor Thom and the unique temple of Bayon. Today you'll explore the enchanting temple of the Banteay Srei, the jewel in the crown of Angkorian art. Banteay Srei means ‘Citadel of Women’ and it is said that it must have been built by women. In the afternoon, you'll visit the Banteay Samre, which dates from the same period as Angkor Wat. Afterwards, you'll continue to visit the monuments of Rolous, which served as Indravarman I’s capital. The temples were built by the Khmer and mark the beginning of the age of Khmer classical art.

Today is the last day of your Vietnam and Cambodia itinerary. Wake early and participate in Tai Chi on the top deck or simply relax and enjoy the sunrise. Then, enjoy a light breakfast before setting out to explore nearby islands by rowing boat, before returning to the boat to take advantage of the sundeck and admire the amazing rock formations of Bai Tu Long Bay. You'll have brunch on board while you are returned to the pier to drive back to Hanoi Airport for your flight.
