Overview
This memorable 48-hour journey is perfect for a weekend escape!
From Auckland, you'll enter a dream-like natural wonderland as you enter the Rotorua region where you visit glowworm caves and are introduced to Maori culture, which is abundant and celebrated in Rotorua. Before heading back to Auckland, you'll spend the morning in the Polynesian Spa where mineral waters will heal and soothe your body.
Your break to stretch your legs on your way back will be in The Shire, where you'll enter the iconic movie set for the Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit for a Hobbiton tour.

Departing early, this full-day tour has it all! From the magical glowworms and world-famous limestone formations of Waitomo to the rich cultural heritage and geothermal bounty of Rotorua. Your journey includes a visit to the glowworm caves, a Māori cultural performance, a visit to the Agrodome and bubbling mud pools and geysers. In the evening, a traditional Mitai Maori dining experience.

Rotorua to Auckland via a Hobbiton Tour

Rotorua's Polynesian Spa offers a unique thermal spa experience. You'll enjoy tranquil bathing and lake views in four shallow alkaline rock pools, each with different temperatures. From Rotorua, your Hobbiton tour starts with a scenic drive across the Kaimai Ranges to Matamata. Along the way, your local driver guide will provide commentary and share stories about the region and its history. You'll tour around the Hobbiton Movie Set before continuing the back to Auckland.
