Tuscany is one of the most famous and beautiful regions of Italy, home to stunning landscapes of rolling vineyards, traditional houses and quaint medieval hilltop villages and towns.

Your Tuscan tour from Florence takes you from the most famous parts to the lesser-known parts of the region. You'll learn a little about the history and culture of Tuscany, sample some food and wine and explore at your own pace. This morning starts with an introductory tour during which you'll learn facts and secrets of two thousand years of Florentine history, from the city’s Roman origins to a 15th-century palace, from the Ponte Vecchio, through the famous Uffizi courtyard, to the wonders of the architecture of Brunelleschi’s Dome which overlooks the Baptistery golden ‘Gates of Paradise’.

Today, you have the entire day free to explore the city. You may choose to visit the museums, the Academy Gallery or climb up the stairs of the Dome of Brunelleschi. You could also take a walk in Boboli Gardens, admire the Palazzo Pitti and walk all the way up to Piazzale Michelangelo to see the entire city of Florence with the River Arno and its bridges. The day is a great resting day from your guided tour of Tuscany.

You'll begin the day in San Gimignano, a medieval hill town southwest of Florence surrounded by 13th-century stone walls and many towers. Next, you'll stop in Montalcino, a beautiful medieval hilltop city with a castle that overlooks it. After lunch in a Chianti winery, you'll enjoy a wine tasting of the local wines made only in this region.
