Overview

Embark on a 13-day Cambodia and Vietnam cycling tour, which combines the best cycling routes whilst spending a reasonable amount of time hiking and visiting UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

Your trip starts in Ho Chi Minh City (formerly known as Saigon) with a visit to Cu Chi Tunnels. You'll then take a riverboat to explore the closest Mekong Delta region and get on a local horse carriage to discover the local villages. Afterwards, you'll take a short flight to Dalat, the City of Love, where you'll continue your adventure to Phan Rang seaside town.

On this adventure, you'll also experience a local night train from Phan Rang back to Ho Chi Minh City where you will take a short flight to Cambodia. Immerse yourself in the cultures of Cambodia through this beautiful country, explore the incredible Angkor complex and see the beautiful Khmer architecture.

Combining the highlights of two countries, this Cambodia and Vietnam cycling tour will open your eyes to the delights of Indochina and leave you awe-struck by these magical locations.

Day 1

Ho Chi Minh City Arrival

Today, you'll arrive in Ho Chi Minh City airport around noon, you will be met and transferred to hotel for check-in and light refreshment. Afterwards, you'll have an orientation tour through Ho Chi Minh City's bustling streets and Ben Thanh Market. The rest of the day is free for you to enjoy at your leisure. In the evening, you can dine in one of Ho Chi Minh City's best local restaurants then explore its famed bar street!

This morning, you'll leave your hotel at 7.30 am by vehicle with a transfer to the outskirts of HCMC. Your Vietnam cycling tour begins in rural villages. You'll start cycling on country roads through tiny villages before a ferry crossing. You'll cycle on a dirt track along the river and through the rubber plantation, fruit gardens, rice paddy fields and villages. This excursion combines the best cycling routes whilst learning more about the war and the resilience of the Vietnamese people.

Day 3

Biking to My Tho and the Mekong Delta

Today, you'll start cycling from Long An to My Tho, located close to the Mekong Delta. You'll then take an interesting boat journey to Unicorn Island and to a visit a bee farm. Then, you'll change to a small rowing boat to travel along the canals with a lingering smell of coconut from the coconut candy factory. If time permits, you can visit Vinh Trang pagoda, one of the best-known pagodas in the region before transferring back to Ho Chi Minh City for dinner.

Day 4

Fly to Dalat

Today you will take a short morning flight to the mountain town of Dalat, known as the “City of Eternal Spring”. An afternoon of sightseeing takes in the art deco former summer residence of Bao Dai – the last Emperor of Vietnam, the old Dalat Railway Station, the Central Market and famous XQ embroidery workshop. There will be a chance to visit the Crazy House before taking a short walk around Xuan Huong Lake to get a feel for this delightful city in the evening.

You'll start your day today with a 30-kilometre bike ride to the north of Dalat City. Ride along picturesque scenic roads through farms to the forest paths where you will start your off-road journey. Cycling to Victory Lake and into forest tracks, you'll enjoy the surrounding mountain as well as Langbian, the highest mountain in the area. Your off-road section ends at the well-known Valley of Love. You'll then cycle back to Dalat on a paved road for your overnight stay.

After breakfast, your driver will meet you at the hotel’s lobby and transfer you to the quiet yet beautiful coastal town of Phan Rang on a 3-hour road trip. You'll arrive at around noon and check into your hotel where you can either relax for the rest of the day after your long journey or choose to get out and explore the town. Situated between two sensation coastal drives, Phan Rang is the perfect place to hire a motorbike and explore or enjoy your free time swimming at Phan Rang Beach.

This morning, you'll follow the guide to explore Phan Rang by bicycle. Going straight to the famous Cham Village of Bau Truc, you'll enjoy all kinds of handmade porcelain products made by the Cham people and you may want to buy some of them as souvenirs. On the way back, you will visit Po Klaong Girai and the Po Ro Me Temples. You can enjoy the afternoon at your leisure before transferring to the train station for a night train back to Ho Chi Minh City.

In the early hours of the morning, you'll arrive at the railway station where you will be met and transferred to have breakfast before checking in at the hotel to use to refresh and sleep a little more if you need to. You'll then check out around noon to go for lunch and then transfer to the airport for your flight to Siem Reap in Cambodia. On arrival, you'll meet your guide and head to your hotel where you'll have dinner before doing a little exploring.

Today, you'll start your cycling day by exploring the Angkor temple grounds and complex before hopping on the Grand Circuit where you stop at each major temple area including Bayon, Ta Prohm and Angkor Wat. You'll end your day at Phnom Bakheng Temple where you are rewarded with a stunning sunset and breathtaking view. In the evening, you'll head to a popular restaurant in Siem Reap before exploring Pub Street. Throughout the day, lunch and dinner will be served at local restaurants.

Today, you'll leave the crowds behind and turn off the main tourist road to Banteay Samre and Banteay Srei where you continue to explore some of the country's most exquisite temples and ruins, away from the hoards of tourists. A little further out, not too many people venture to these temples which makes them great to visit. In the afternoon, you'll cycle back to Siem Reap and the rest of the day will be free to enjoy.

Today, you will cycle to Tonle Sap and make a stop at Roulous, home to some of the earliest permanent structures built by the Khmers, and continue your journey on a boat tour of the floating village of Kampong Phluck before cycling back to Siem Reap. After lunch, you'll transfer to Siem Reap airport for a short flight to Phnom Penh. A driver will meet you on arrival and transfer you to your hotel for check-in.

After breakfast, you'll start cycling to explore Phnom Penh. During your cycling tour, you'll visit the Royal Palace and Pagoda as well as the National Museum. After lunch in a burger place run by two French cousins, you'll continue cycling to the Killing Fields where you'll learn all about the horrific atrocities bought upon Cambodia under the rule of the Khmer Rouge in recent history. After the Killing Fields, the rest of the afternoon will be free for you to spend however you wish.
