Overview

This 11-day Vietnam highlights itinerary includes all the principal sites in the North, Centre and South of Vietnam, with stops in Hanoi, Hoi An, Hue, Ho Chi Minh City and the Mekong Delta.

You can start in Hanoi to discover the city of 1000 years, then travel to Halong Bay for a relaxing overnight cruise on the emerald waters with many activities to choose. After that, go to Hoi An to see the ancient town and My Son Sanctuary, the ancient capital of the Champa Kingdom.

Continue the journey with a fantastic drive via Hai Van Pass to Hue Imperial Citadel and spend a day learning about the history of Vietnam, then fly to Ho Chi Minh City. You'll visit Cu Chi Tunnels to get a better understanding of the Vietnam War as well as visit some famous sights in Ho Chi Minh. The trip finishes with a visit to Mekong Delta for cycling and floating markets, a charming insight into rural life along the mighty river.

Set off at 8 am for a 3.5-hour drive through the Red River Delta, which offers plenty of chances for taking photos of Vietnamese farmers tilling the vast green paddy fields. Arrive at Halong City, check in and board your junk and enjoy the journey in the amazing bay. Savour a gourmet lunch of fresh seafood onboard as you sail out into the mystical bay. In the afternoon, enjoy some activities in the bay, or just spend some time relaxing. Dinner is served on board.

Awake early and participate in Tai Chi on the top deck or simply relax and enjoy the sunrise. Enjoy a light breakfast before setting out to explore nearby islands by rowboat. Return to the junk then take advantage of the sundeck and admire the amazing rock formations of Bai Tu Long Bay. Have brunch on board. Return to the pier then drive back to Hanoi Airport for your flight to Danang. Upon arrival, you will be transferred to Hoi An, where you will stay overnight.

After breakfast, visit My Son Holy Land, once the spiritual capital of Champa Kingdom that dominated South East Asia for nearly a thousand years and occupied most of the central parts of Vietnam from 2nd century to 16th century. In the afternoon, drive back to Hoi An to visit the former merchants' homes, the 400-year-old Japanese Covered Bridge, Phuc Kien Pagoda and the colourful riverside market. Then enjoy some leisure time in the ancient town.

After breakfast, leave Hoi An for Hue, the last imperial capital of Vietnam, well-known for magnificent architecture, pagodas and royal tombs laid in small villages and surrounding hills. En route, marvel at the famous Danang Beach and visit the Cham Museum. When you arrive in Hue, you'll visit the Imperial Citadel, home to the Imperial City and Forbidden Purple City – once the Emperor's private residence. Later on, absorb the energy, sounds and smells of the bustling Dong Ba Market.
