Overview

Your 11-day adventure will begin in Florence, where you'll go on a guided sightseeing tour including the Uffizi Gallery. Then you'll gradually make your way down, beginning with a tour of Tuscany from Florence, where you'll sample the truffle experience, take a guided tour of Siena, then make your way down to Lucca and Pisa including an opportunity to climb the Leaning Tower.

Visit a town carved into the rock, Matera and the old abandoned town Craco, now used for movie sets. Enjoy the natural stalactites and stalagmites at the Castellana Grotte. Tour the white-coned Trulli houses in Alberobello and wonderful examples of Baroque architecture in Locorotondo.

In the late Renaissance town of Fasano enjoy a pizza cooking class and olive oil tasting. Visit the 'White City' of Ostuni, Monopoli and Polignano a Mare, towns is built on the edge of a craggy ravine pockmarked with caves.

There are many optional tours available like biking, food, art, Boboli Garden, hot air balloon, and other city tours as you make your way through the country.

At your airport arrival, your driver will pick you up and transfer you to your hotel. Florence is renowned as one of the most cultural and historical cities in the world and is packed full of amazing architecture and places of significance. During your free time, you can visit the San Lorenzo Market, one of the closed food markets, the largest and oldest in the city, you will see the freshest products and homemade delights from local vendors and you can sample whatever catches your attention!

Start from Repubblica square and stroll through streets and alleys of the medieval quarter to the gorgeous “Westminster Abbey of Florence”. Next, visit 'The David' at the Accademia Gallery, walk past the influential Medici family's monuments, and finally arrive at Piazza del Duomo and admire the interior's intricate Gothic details. After lunch, visit the Uffizi Gallery boasting a hall of the most important artists of all time.

Today your driver will pick you up at the hotel for the searching for truffles experience. Meet an expert truffle-gatherer and his inseparable dog, for a walk to discover this “treasure” hidden in the woods of San Miniato. Then a wonderful tasting lunch of local food based on truffle ingredients. After lunch, have a guided tour of the historical centre of Siena, including Piazza del Campo, the Tower of Mangia and the lively and narrow streets, and enjoy a panoramic view from the Facciatone.

This morning visit Lucca, the only old town in Italy surrounded by well-preserved walls. Visit the San Frediano church, with its magnificent mosaic, explore the beautiful Piazza del Anfiteatro, Via Filungo's elegant shops, and small medieval streets. After lunch, it's a 30-minute drive to go sightseeing in Pisa, including Romanesque art, buildings of historic-artistic value and a climb to one of the most celebrated monuments in the world: The Leaning Tower.

Today enjoy a tour of Matera, situated on a rocky outcrop and made up of a series of caves carved into the mountainside which now house museums, restaurants and bars. Then to the 8th-century town of Craco, perched on a 400-metre cliff, now left to decay and a popular filming location. Craco was once a monastic centre with a university and a castle. The Castellana Cave is an invaluable natural heritage site, estimated to be 90 million years old, with impressive stalactites and stalagmites.

Today visit Alberobello, a UNESCO World Heritage Site of over 1,000 Trulli houses with unique cone-roofed houses. These small white structures feature two layers of walls to provide insulation, collect rainwater and house fireplaces and ovens built into the walls. Situated on a 400-metre high hill is Locorotondo, renowned for its quaint village feel and its houses. You have the option to visit the 10th-century flourishing town of Martina Franca.

Enjoy a free day or book some optional tours where you could explore the region by bike or visit Lecce, which dates back over 2,000 years and was inhabited since the reign of Emperor Hadrian and the Roman Empire. Some of the highlights include the Basilica di Santa Croce, the Porta Napoli and the cathedral as well as wandering the narrow golden streets and enjoying a long lunch in the many wine bars.

Inside, the central nave ceiling is decorated with three beautiful 18th-century paintings, depicting scenes from the life of Jesus. You have the option to enjoy a fish lunch in a restaurant on the seaside.

This morning meet your chef and learn how to prepare the local dish “orecchiette Pugliese”. You can visit an olive oil factory and “prairie of the olives” featuring the highest concentration of olive trees, some up to 3000 years old. After lunch drive to Monopoli and Polignano a Mare. This small town is built on the edge of a craggy ravine pockmarked with caves and thought to be one of the most important ancient settlements in Puglia, later inhabited by the Huns and Normans.
