Overview

Everest Base Camp trekking is one of the most extraordinary adventures in the world.

This 11-day trek path to lap Mount Everest (5,545 metres) is located on the eastern half of Nepal. It’s an interesting and adventurous trek which offers a wide range of trekking experiences and enjoyment with the thrills and chills of mountain climbing.

In comparison to all the Himalayas, Everest is visited by thousands of trekkers every year. Along the way, you'll discover Buddhist monasteries, varieties of flora and fauna, a closer look to the Sherpa culture and beautiful sights, which make this trek very enjoyable.

During this trek, you will enjoy crystal clear views of the Himalayan ranges including Mount Everest, Ama Dablam, Lhotse, Nuptse and Pummi. You can feel the touch of nature with every blink of your eyes; taste the experience of Everest trekking, capture the sensational mountain vistas and dreamy landscapes.

Day 1

Fly from Kathmandu to Lukla & Trek to Phakding

You'll take an early morning flight to Lukla at 2,800 metres. After all the formalities and preparation, you'll walk the narrow streets of Lukla, amazed by the colours, the people, shops and the yaks walking through the streets with their ever-tinkling bells. After Lukla, you'll continue your trek through a dense forest, passing by a small town every now and then. The trek takes you over one of many swing bridges and you are introduced to Tibetan prayer wheels.

Today, the trail starts with a crossing of another suspension bridge and easy uphill trek to Monjo from where Sagarmatha National Park begins. After small formalities at the national park, your trail leads uphill to Namche Bazaar crossing another suspension bridge. It takes about 1.5 hours of walking to reach Namche Bazaar, the gateway to Mt. Everest.

Today is an acclimatisation day, where you will explore Namche Bazaar, the gateway to Everest and a busy bustling market town. From Thame/Khunde, you can enjoy views of Mt. Everest and other peaks while getting to know the Sherpa Culture. You will hike to Khumjung village and come back to Namche Bazaar for the evening.

Day 4

Namche Bazaar to Tengboche

Today, you'll start your trail that goes gradually up and down up to Tengboche, enjoying the views of Mt. Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Ama Dablam and Thamserku. Tengboche has the biggest and most famous Buddhist Monastery of the Khumbu region. You'll spend the night in Tengboche before continuing your journey in the morning.

Day 5

Tengboche to Dingboche

Today you will have great views of Pangboche village. This village is a base camp for climbing nearby Ama Dablam and is a great area for trekking. The village is inhabited mainly by Sherpas, who have a great climbing history. The walk is fairly moderate until Lobuche and then there is a steep climb to Dingboche.

Day 6

Dingboche to Lobuche

This trail leads first to the bottom of the hill, and after crossing a small bridge you'll reach Duglha. Another great spot to enjoy views of Mt Pumori and other peaks. After 2-4 hours of trekking past Duglha, you'll climb up to the Khumbu Glacier. This is a memorial site dedicated to past Sherpas. An array of stones with prayer flags remind you of their achievements.

Today the trail continues, gaining the high altitude up to Gorakshep. You'll check-in at the lodge and hike through rocky and glacial trails up to Everest Base Camp. Reaching Everest Base Camp with views of Mt. Nuptse, Mt Khumbuste and Mt. Pumori will be a highlight of your trekking today. You'll be returning with amazing memories on the way back to Gorakshep.

Today, you'll wake up early in the morning to climb up to Kala Patthar, where you can see an astonishing sunrise view. You will have a stunning panoramic view of Mt. Everest, Mt. Nuptse, Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Pumori and Mt. Ama Dablam. Then, you'll hike back to Gorakshep for breakfast and then descend down to Periche.

Today, the trail drops downhill with beautiful views of rhododendron flowers and juniper trees through Pangboche village. As the trail continues to descend, you'll reach Dudhkoshi River, then a level walk will take you to Kyungjung. It's an easy walk the rest of the way to reach Namche Bazaar.

Today, the trail has a steep drop down all the way until you will reach the fast-flowing Dudh Koshi River. There will be another suspension bridge crossing as you walk back the same route you came. It has a different feeling now, easy, after having achieved this great Everest trekking experience. You should feel very proud of yourself as you reach this final point!
