Overview
This 11-day China discovery tour takes you to some of the most important cities in this vast country. Travelling by high-speed train from city to city, you'll cover much more of China than you thought was possible!
Starting in Beijing and finishing in Shanghai this 11-day journey will take you to some of the essential UNESCO World Heritage Sites, including the Great Wall of China and the Terracotta Army. Along the way, you'll have guided tours of famous cities such as Beijing, Yangzhou and Shanghai where a local guide will show you what life is like on the streets. You'll also visit some of the best restaurants in the city to be introduced to the true flavours of China.

Explore Beijing

You'll be taken on a brief tour of the city to visit the essential sights, such as Tiananmen Square, the Forbidden City, and the Temple of Heaven. Your tour will include lunch which will be the infamous Peking duck that will be enjoyed at a local restaurant for the most authentic flavour. You'll have the rest of the day to explore at your leisure.

Day 3
The Great Wall of China

Today, you'll visit The Great Wall of China, but in particularly the Mutianyu Great Wall where you'll have a guided tour to learn about the history of the structure and how to came to be one of the most emblematic in the world. Then, visit the Olympic Park where the 2009 Olympics and Paralympics took place. After your tour, you'll have free time to enjoy the city.

Day 4
Hutong Tour

Spend the morning on a rickshaw exploring the old part of Beijing, where you'll navigate the hutong, which are narrow alleys that cover a vast area of the city. This short tour will show you what life is like in the alleyways of Beijing. You'll have the option to have a foot massage after learning about traditional Chinese medicine later in the day.

Day 5
Travel to Xi'an

In the morning, make your way from Beijing to Xi'an by taking the high-speed train, the most efficient means of navigating China. Head straight to see the Terracotta Warriors before checking into the hotel and taking some time to rest. In the afternoon, visit the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, Xi'an City Wall for a historical insight into the city.

Xi'an City Tour

Xi'an is a fascinating city that was once the finishing point of the Silk Road, making it the first cosmopolitan area of China to exist. Today, you'll be introduced to what is left of this fascinating fact by visiting the Drum and Bell Tower, the Muslim Quarter, and the great mosque. You'll then finish the day at the very informative Xi’an Museum.

Hangzhou

Travel from Xi'an to Hangzhou by high-speed train and check into your hotel. Later in the afternoon, you'll visit West Lake where you can spend hours exploring the many temples and pagodas that surround it before the sun sets. Relax tonight, ready for the next stage of your trip.

The Lingering Garden

Take the high-speed train again in the morning, travelling from Hangzhou to Suzhou. Once settled, you'll visit the Lingering Garden where you can walk among this stunning UNESCO World Heritage Site which was once a private garden owned by several different dynasties, all of which wanted to make this garden the most beautiful in the country.

Discover Shanghai
Hide details
Travel from Suzhou to Shanghai in the morning. Take some rest when you arrive, then stroll around Yu Garden and make your way to Nangjing Road to get to know a little about Shangai. The rest of the day is free for you to enjoy at your own pace. You may wish to do a little shopping or rest in the hotel a little more.

Shanghai Day Tour

Today, you'll discover a side of Shanghai that you will love. Get a bird's eye view of the city from the Jin Mao Observation Deck on 88th floor and then make your way to the Bund which is the financial centre of the city. Finish your day with the Huangpu River Cruise where a buffet dinner could be served if you wish.
