Before settling down in my role as an agent, I spent the majority of my adult life traveling, living and working in 5 of the 7 continents. A few years into my time abroad, many of my friends and family began coming to me with questions about my own experiences and recommendations and I realised a future in the travel industry might be a good fit. I got my start in the industry as a tour guide where I got to meet guests from all over the world, before moving into a role as an agent, now based in Wanaka, NZ!
Where is your favourite place to travel to? Why?
I think the more you travel, the harder this question becomes to answer. The most memorable travel experience I have had to date was the 6 months I spent driving across east Africa. This trip combined my love of travel with my passion for sport, establishing grassroots rugby programmes in new communities every week. A close second is the Canadian Rockies. As a former tour guide in the region, I have visited the Rockies nearly 100 times and I would still jump at any opportunity to return!
What has been the best experience for you when traveling with tourists? Why?
The single-best individual tourist experience I've had would probably be skydiving in Wanaka, NZ. During the pre-flight briefing, it was nearly impossible to contain the energy within the group. We all boarded the plane and the higher we climbed the quieter it got, with energy and enthusiasm becoming silent nerves. Before I knew it, my feet were dangling outside the plane and it was my turn to roll. The views were absolutely breathtaking (or was that just the fall?) and the endorphins left me buzzing for the rest of the day. I'd highly recommend it to ANYONE!
