My favourite thing about travelling besides meeting new people is the chance to try different types of food. As a local tour guide in Tokyo, I always enjoy sharing my favourite Japanese foods with guests when they visit Japan. My most memorable experience so far was when a couple on my tour requested sukiyaki for dinner and invited me; I took them to my favourite sukiyaki restaurant and they loved it so much. The great thing about being a local guide and knowing the area is to share the things I like (and sometimes things that I don't like) with guests. I've been lucky to visit several countries and make friends with local people; an experience in a different country with a local is so much richer.

Mie is my favourite town in Japan. It’s a special area to me because it’s where I grew up and also because it’s a perfect off-the-beaten-path spot. I’m now based in Tokyo, but I still like to look for traditional experiences and hidden gems in local areas to share with guests.
